Student Financial Aid

One of the first steps to choosing the right college should be applying for student financial aid. Many people believe that school is much more expensive than it actually is. Although some schools are expensive, there is most likely a school near you that will accept federal student financial aid and meet your financial standards. You should know that not every distance learning course or online degree is accredited and/or eligible for federal student aid. To find out whether you can receive federal student aid for your program, check with your school's financial aid department. For more information about distance learning, click here.

Question: What are my chances to get help to pay for college?

I’m 19 and living in the USA, also I want to go to college but it’s extremely expensive! My mother doesn’t earn much and not sure if financial aid would like her income so I’m not having high hopes for that. My gpa was/is 3.5 in high school but don’t know if that enough for scolarships and grants? And it’s not like getting a part-time would help. People requested joining the military or something — but is that the only way for me? Will financial aid still help me with my mom low income or not so how gpa score — I heard your parents need high income and a very high gpa. Thanks.

Question: How does withdrawing from all your classes for a semester affect your financial aid?

I want to withdraw from all my courses this semester because I am no longer insterested in my degree program and am considering a trade instead. I’m a Second semester junior at a SUNY school and I’ve had a pretty good track record with financial aid, my gpa is always over a 3.0. I want to do trade school next semester so taking the courses I’m taking now are useless and I don’t want to continue stressing myself out for nothing. Also I called the financial aid office and they transferred me to a Add/Dropp counselor she didn’t answer the phone. That’s why I’m asking on here.

Question: Florida Bright Futures Scholarship/ Aice Diploma?

Hi. So my counselor told me that if I complete 7 Aice Classes, pass the exam and obtain the aice diploma, I qualify for the bright futures (with 100 hr volunteer hours needed). I am currently a junior and am wondering when I should apply and how I should. Do I need to apply for Fasfa even though it is a scholarship? How will I show them that I obtained my Aice Diploma? Thank You so much!
