Student Financial Aid

One of the first steps to choosing the right college should be applying for student financial aid. Many people believe that school is much more expensive than it actually is. Although some schools are expensive, there is most likely a school near you that will accept federal student financial aid and meet your financial standards. You should know that not every distance learning course or online degree is accredited and/or eligible for federal student aid. To find out whether you can receive federal student aid for your program, check with your school's financial aid department. For more information about distance learning, click here.

Question: Since graduate students cannot get pell grants or parent plus loans, would my school have to disburse my remaining balance to me?

Hi, I am in my last semester as an undergrad. This semester, I qualified for a pell grant and a parent plus loan. My school broke both awards into two semesters. Since this is my last semester, I will only get half of the remaining of both awards. I am continuing for grad school next semester, but my school told me that grad students do not get pell grants or parent plus loans. Since I have already been awarded for both, will my school have to disburse the remaining balances to me this semester? Also, I have this disclosure statements for the awards.

Question: In state tuition for Arizona State?

This upcoming semester I will be transferring to Mesa Community college to finish my generals spring semester and fall semester and then automatically enroll into ASU second semester of next year. I currently go to school in Minnesota and me and my parents understand you have to reside there 12 months before being considered for in state tuition (we already had my name put on a friends bills who lives down in Arizona). Does it matter if when I move down there that I am still a dependent on my parents taxes? Will they have to take me off so I can be considered for in-state tuition?

Question: Do you have to take the full amount of federal loans offered?

For example, if an independent college senior is offered $12,500 in low-interest federal loans and they only need $8,000, can they just take that or do they have to accept the full amount?
