In the recent months, the government has emphasized the need for educated professionals in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Consequently, several campus-based and online schools are creating degree programs that can create new options for individuals who choose to enter these sectors.

For instance, an Illinois-based school recently announced the launch of a masters program in advanced energy and fuels management, which is intended to help degree seekers launch administrative careers in the science, technology, engineering or agricultural industries.

These types of graduate programs, which are best suited to recent college graduates and mid-career professionals, require students to take foundational courses in energy and fuel. In addition, degree seekers may be required to take business classes on subjects such as managerial and organizational behavior, managerial accounting as well as project management.

Similar programs may also involved hands-on projects, such as capstone internships, that could help students gain the real-world experience they will need to succeed in their fields.

Graduates of these courses of study are expected to be in high demand in the coming years, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for engineering and natural sciences managers are slated to grow by 8 percent over the next eight years.
