Due to emerging issues such as healthcare reform and nursing shortages, many members of the medical industry are being forced to handle some business-related problems. As a result, these professionals may want to consider enrolling in campus-based or online college courses that can give them a foundational knowledge of business practices.

Updating one's educational qualifications in this field could even lead them into a new career, as industry analysts expect that the healthcare industry will be creating a great deal of positions for medical experts with business skills.

In an effort to help fill these anticipated occupations, some academic institutions are creating business administration degree programs that focus on the health sector. For instance, an Ohio-based school recently launched a health sector management and policy major for students in its bachelors degree program in business.

Similar programs could help students land jobs in a variety of healthcare-related businesses, such as hospitals, medical groups, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, care management groups, health information technology firms, supply chain management companies, policy organizations, insurance agencies as well as consulting firms.
