The College Foundation of North Carolina has announced the availability of scholarships for individuals who wish to obtain a nursing license RN.
Through its Nurse Educators of Tomorrow program, the organization will provide as many as 80 scholarships to nurses who are working toward a masters and doctoral degree. The awards are worth $15,000 each and may be renewed for up to three years.
Applicants should be legal residents of North Carolina, have a GPA of 3.2 or higher and be enrolled in a campus-based or online college degree program that will allow them to become educators in the nursing field. Courses of study that focus on nursing education or a related subject in the healthcare sector are acceptable.
Winners will be selected based on their academic achievement, leadership potential and desire to become a full-time nursing instructor within the state. Program organizers will continue to accept applications until the funds have been exhausted.
Awardees will be required to teach nursing at a campus-based or online college in North Carolina after they graduate. Beneficiaries who do not fulfill this obligation will have to repay their scholarship with 10 percent interest.
