Although earning an MBA degree from a campus-based or online school can lead to lucrative positions in traditional careers such as business or finance, some students may wish to use their skills in exciting fields such as professional sports.

Fortunately, many schools are recognizing the need for highly trained individuals in this industry by developing classroom-based and online degree programs that are intended to prepare students for careers as sports agents and business managers.

Many of these programs enable students to gain hands-on experience to supplement their coursework. For instance, a California-based business school recently offered degree seekers in its sports MBA program the opportunity to take a nine-day trip to the Dominican Republic, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The excursion was intended to help students gain a better understanding of the social and economic factors that influence professional sports, according to school officials.

Similar programs could enable job seekers to gain the business skills they will need to work in this fast-growing industry.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for professional sports agents and business managers is expected to grow much faster than the average for all other occupations over the next eight years.
